Pen Sans

I am an artist and crafts person living and working in Penzance in Cornwall.

My work reflects the area of outstanding natural beauty that I have the priviledge to live and work in.

The studio is located on Penzance Promenade and visitors are welcome by prior arrangement. Please see the Contact page for details.

I also actively support the local traditions of the area such as:

The Penzance Mayhorns event

The Golowan Festival (Summer Solstice)

Penglaz Penzance's very own 'Oss'

Penglaz is a much loved (and feared) icon of Penzance being the town's very own 'Oss'. The name is Cornish and means 'Grey Head'. Penglaz can be found cutting a startling figure as she dances a dance of death and rebirth through the streets of Penzance along with her Teazer known locally as The Bucca as part of the Midsummer Golowan celebrations, and now also during the town's Midwinter Montol Festivities as she was always meant to do.

In the video on the website, you can see me cutting a dash in the snake dance weaving its way around Penglaz and the Golowan band on Mazey Eve!

The Montol Festival (Winter Solstice)

Pen Sans was the original name for Penzance and is Cornish for Holy Headland, named after a medieval chapel once situated in the harbour.
